A classy Singaporean on a dysfunctional Indian Ah Beng.

Eddie is one of the three Creative Directors played the seminal transformational roles in my professional life.
A trim, taut man, Eddie radiates a "can do" vibe that is immensely compelling. Enormously gifted, a combination copywriter and art director, he has a extraordinary ability to concieve an idea as an organic whole: you go in with a verbal lead and he sees all the visual possibilities; talk picture and his responses are already phrased in sync with the visual. Very, very demanding, he knows how to extract the most from anyone who works for him. And he pours so much energy into you, you are left exhilarated, not exhausted after an entire day of work. Like all extreme talent, he has his notable marks: my favourite one being his habit of writing terse, pointed memos in broadfelt pens across pristine white A3 sheets, capped by his distinctively flowing signature.
In just the 4 months I reported to him, he pushed me to the very edge of my professional limits, and far beyond, elevating my entire professional capability to a level I had not even concieved. Working with him was a giant education.
Eddie once explained, in an aside, that he was considered a "banana" in Singapore (yellow on the outside, white on the inside), and I would most certainly classify as a "coconut" (brown on the outside, white on the inside).
Three months after I returned, Eddie submitted his evaluation of my stint in Singapore, as mandated by the McCann New York office, which was supervising my performance under Eddie. And in his fabulously generous manner, he capped it off with a "recommendation letter", here reproduced.
Eddie is now a ranking photographer in the Asia-Pacific circles, (he called himself an Executive Creative Shutter in one of his recent emails to me). His work can also be seen on a widely appreciated book on the Banyan Tree Resorts, and, last I knew, he was shooting a short film in Tibet.
All veddy veddy Eddie.
